Excello, a South Korean specialist company in Heat DX solutions, announced its participation in the 2024 Steel Industry Conference and Exhibition (AISTech 2024) in Columbus, United States, from May. 6 to 9, 2024. Excello, in collaboration with SeAh CSS, presented their ‘Refractory Life Prediction System’ for AOD Converters.

Excello is known for providing refractory life prediction through deep learning and temperature data analysis from high-temperature facilities. The company holds over 20 domestic and international patents and has been recognized as an excellent growth company by INNO-BIZ.

Excello’s solutions are used by major steel companies such as POSCO, Hyundai Steel, SeAh CSS, and several Japanese steel firms. They are expanding into industries like petrochemicals, energy, and incinerators and have recently secured export deals with Japanese steel companies.

AISTech, organized by the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), gathers over 16,000 members from more than 70 countries to discuss advancements in metals and steel production technologies.

At the event, SeAh CSS highlighted the ‘Refractory Life Prediction System’, which was developed with Excello. The system uses sensors inside AOD decarburization equipment to monitor the temperature in real-time, predicting the lifespan of refractories effectively.

Chae Min-seok, Director of the Technical Research Center at SeAh CSS, commented, “This collaboration shows how AI technology can address process issues, predict quality, and improve material design in the steel industry. Remote real-time monitoring enhances safety and productivity by optimizing operations and reducing material usage.”

Excello’s CEO, Park Seong-jae, added, “This system’s success will drive the smart factory transformation in the steel industry and other high-temperature industrial fields, improving worker safety and facility efficiency.”
